I took pictures for a friend's new baby. The pictures and annoucements turned out great. He was a little angel.

2 of our Monarch caterpillars have cycled into the chrysalis stage. We caught one on tape. Click here to watch the movie we made. The caterpillar hung in J position for about 21 hours before shedding it's skin. It only takes about 4 minutes from the time the skin splits to complete shedding of the skin. It will remain a chrysalis for 10-14 days before the lining will become completely transparent revealing the monarch within.

We had so much fun last summer watching the monarch emerge from a chrysalis that we wanted to try again. This time we are starting from caterpillars and even eggs. So far we have 5. The eggs are smaller than the head of a pin. The baby caterpillars are about 2 mm long at first. They keep munching away at the milkweed plant for about 2-3 weeks until they are almost 2 inches long. We will keep you posted on our summer friends.
